NAAB RESTAURANT



NAEB RESTAURANT

Hubby decided to treat his two aunties an Iranian food since they loves Arabic food. So we went to Naab Restaurant on 24th December 2006.

We had Dolma as appetizer. Dolma is a combination of ground meat, herbs and split peas stuffed in grapevine leaves. Unfortunately they don't really like Dolma including me (except hubby) because of its sourish taste.

Then we had lamb shanks, an exotic persian dish amde of fine cuts of lamb shanks.


The lamb shanks is served with dill rice. We also had barberry rice. Barberry rice is a Persian style rice including barberry and pistachio stripes with saffron.

This is Dill Rice. Actually the rice is green color but when I took the picture, due to the lighting effect, the rice look yellow color in the picture. We had our first taste of Dill rice when we went to Mecca to performed our Umrah in 2004. We are flying by Iran Airlines and they served us Dill Rice and Barberry Rice in the aircraft. I don't really like the taste back then, because of its strong taste of herbs. However, the one served by Iran Airlines were rich in flavor and they have a lot of pistachios and saffron in the rice.

Cheese Fruit Cake


Cheese Fruit Cake Bebop

Resepi ni dapat dari mana lagi kalau tak 'Resepi Diana' blog. I have tried the recipe and hubby said the cake was good. Unfortunately, I don't really like the taste of the cake because I think the cake is a bit dry. Maybe I bake the cake too long. A few of my friend said that the cake was good. Anyway this is the recipe of the cake :

170 gm buah - buahan campuran
2 sudu besar jus oren

- buah buahan campuran digaul rata dgn jus oren dan diperap selama 2 jam

70 gm mentega
70 gm cream cheese
70 gm gula perang
2 biji telur
1 sudu kecil pes lemon
80 gm tepung gamdum
1/2 sudu kecil baking powder

Pukul mentega, cream cheese dan gula hingga kembang. Masukkan telur dan pes lemon. Pukul sebentar. Masukkan tepung gandum dan baking powder berselang seli dgn campuran buah yang telah diperap. Tuangkan adunan dalam loyang dan bakar pada suhu 170 darjah celcius selama 45 minit.

Asparagus Goreng


Minggu lepas me terasa nak makan asparagus goreng dgn fresh button mushroom. So inilah resepinya.

seikat asparagus
2 ulas bawang putih - dicincang halus
1 batang cili hidup - dicincang halus
1 biji bawang besar dihiris
udang basah
fresh button mushroom

Tumiskan bawang putih, cili hidup dan bawang besar. Bila dah garing masukkan udang dan mushroom. Tambahkan garam dan sedikit oyster sauce. Last sekali masukkan asparagus.Kemudian bolehlah hidang dan makan.

Buttered Egg Prawns


Bahan A
600 gm udang besar
1 camt gula
1 camt garam
1/2 camt lada hitam
1 camt minyak bijan

Bahan B
3 camB tepung jagung
1 camB serbuk kari ikan

Bahan C
3 biji kuning telur
1 camB susu cair
1/2 camt garam
1/4 camt serbuk lada hitam
2 camB butter

1 camB bawang putih - dicincang
2 camB cili padi - dicincang
daun kari
2 camB butter

Bahan perisa
1 camB sos tiram
1/2 camB gula
1/2 camB serbuk lada hitam

Method
1. Bersihkan udang, buangkan kakinya dan keringkan dgn menggunakan kitchen towel. Perap udang dgn Bahan A selama 20 minit
2. Campurkan Bahan B dan masukkan udang yg tlh diperap. Gaul rata.
3. Goreng terendam udang tadi sehingga masak dan tuskan minyaknya
4. Gaul rata Bahan C. Ketepikan. Panaskan kuali, masukkan butter. Kemudian masukkan bahan C. Kacau campuran C dgn cepat utk mendapatkan telur gorang yg halus dan rangup. Angkat dari kuali.
5. Panaskan kuali dgn 2 camB butter. Goreng bawang putih, cili padi dan daun kari hingga wangi.
6. Masukkan udang dan bahan perisa. Gaul rata sebelum dimasukkan telur goreng tadi. Gaul rata dan hidang semasa panas

Resepi ni me dapat dari http://resipidiana.blogspot.com . Memang sedap. Hubby bagi rating 8/10. Walaupun nampak macam leceh tapi sebenarnya resepi ni mudah je tapi me terbuat pedas sedikit sebab terletak banyak cili padi

Al Diafah Restaurant

On my birthday ( 29th September 2006 ), hubby took me to Al Diafah Restaurant for breaking fast. The food was great. We ordered Mandy Chicken with Al Diafa Rice, Vegetable Soup, Kabsa Lamb and hubby had his favourite drink, traditional Arabic Coffee or Ghawar ( not sure the spelling ). I don't really like the Ghawar because of its taste. We had our first taste of Ghawar in 2002 in Mecca. During fasting month, they usually serves Ghawar in Masjidil Haram for breaking fast. The taste is a bit spicy. We also had hummus ( made from chickpea) but I did not managed to take the photo as hubby had finished it when I came back from my prayer.

The dining place is at first floor. The owner of the restaurant is from Jeddah. They also have buffet dinner which is cost at RM45++ per person . As it is a fasting month and I don't think we can eat that much, we opt to have ala carte instead.

This is the vegetable soup. Inside they have cut onion, tomato and fish fillet. I am not sure why it is called vegetable soup when they have fish fillet inside the soup, but the soup was good.

Mandy Chicken with Al Diafa Rice. This is something like beryani but they called it Al Diafa Rice.

Kabsa Lamb served with rice.

Sup Tulang

Sup tulang ni resepi dari MIL me. Hubby suka sup masak macam ni. Dia tak suka pakai sup bonjot. Nasib baiklah cara ni senang dan sedap

Sup Tulang
1 sudu besar jintan manis
1 sudu besar jintan putih
1 sudu besar ketumbar
1 sudu besar lada hitam ( kalau suka pedas bolehlah letak banyak sikit )
6 - 7 ulas bawang merah
2 - 3 ulas bawang putih
halia

Tulang direbus sehingga empuk. Setelah dagingnya empuk, masukkan ke dalam air rebusan yang berisi tulang itu bahan bahan diatas yang telah di blend sehingga halus. Kalau suka bolehlah masukkan kentang dan lobak. Setelah masak taburkan daun bawang dan daun saderi

Tempe Goreng

Dulu mak me kalau masak tempe goreng resepinya dia gaulkan tempe tu dengan cili giling, kunyit, bawang putih, garam dan asam jawa tapi me malas nak tumbuk bahan bahan tu semua jadi me ambil kerja senang, me cuma gaulkan kunyit tu dengan kunyit basah dan cili mesin sebab benda tu semua memang dah ada dalam fridge. Me memang tak pernah guna serbuk kunyit sebab rasanya kurang sedap dan bila goreng, dia akan jadi kering. Jadi biasanya me akan beli kunyit banyak banyak, tumbuk dan simpan dalam fridge. Jadi bila nak pakai senang.


In Memory of My Mother

Dah lama me tak masak. Dah sebulan lebih dah. Yalah hubby pun dah lama outstation so nak masak pun tak guna juga, tak ada siapa nak makan. Me rasa macam nak termuntah asyik makan kat kedai je. So hari Sabtu lepas, lepas Subuh me ajak hubby pergi pasar. Dah lama tak ke pasar so bila pergi ke pasar rasa macam semua benda nak masak. Last nya me masak sambal sotong, sup tulang dengan tempe goreng. Ingatkan nak buat pergedil tapi hubby pulak terasa nak makan tempe goreng. The sambal sotong that I cook reminds me of my late mother. She is a good cook and nobody can cook sambal tumis like she does. Other than sambal, she also makes a nice nasi lemak, cucur udang, popiah basah and asam pedas ikan pari. During that time, we can't afford to have blender and all the sophisticated cooking gadgets so she used batu giling instead of blender and other conventional cooking utensils which I don't remember the names. It is a waste because I did not managed to learn her cooking skills. I was only 15 when she passed away. Well, mak you are always in my mind and my heart. I miss you a lot.

Sambal Sotong
5 - 6 ulas bawang merah
1 - 2 ulas bawang putih
cili giling
asam jawa
sotong
sedikit belacan
garam secukup rasa
gula secukup rasa

Tumis bawang merah, bawang putih dan belacan yang telah ditumbuk halus. Setelah garing, masukkan cili kering yang telah di mesin. Taburkan sedikit gula. Gula ni sebagai pengganti kepada ajinomoto dan juga supaya cili cepat garing. Setelah cili garing masukkan sotong. Agak agak sotong dah separuh masak, perahkan sedikit air asam jawa dan bubuh garam. Lepas tu boleh makan. Kalau suka, bolehlah letak bawang besar yang dihiris bulat bulat

Pasta Goreng

Pasta Goreng
Semalam me malas nak masak nasi. Asyik nasi aja lagipun sejak kebelakangan ni hubby makan sikit aja sebab work stress. Jadi me buatlah pasta goreng for dinner. Pasta goreng ni memang favourite hubby tapi me tak suka sebab tak pedas. Me kalau makan tak sah kalau tak pedas.
Pasta Goreng

1 paket pasta
button mushroom
carrot - hiris nipis nipis
cili hidup - dihiris
bawang goreng - tumbuk halus
halia - tumbuk halus
bawang merah - tumbuk halus
bawang putih - tumbuk halus
serbuk kurma
mince meat

Tumis bawang merah, bawang putih dan halia hingga garing. Masukkan serbuk kurma. Tumis hingga garing. Dah garing, masukkan mince meat. Agak agak dah masak, masukkan carrot, button mushroom dan pasta. Last sekali masukkan bawang goreng dan cili . Bawang goreng lagi banyak lagi sedap

Dah penat masak, terus me tak selera makan. Last-last hantar kat rumah kakak me kat Kg. Pandan. Kalau tak siapa pulak yang nak habiskan sekuali pasta tu.
